I've noticed since starting using Open Rails that the Crtl+Alt+F10 doesn't supress wheelslip and FOV change messages, as well as turntable messages. I've found it to be disadvantageous when recording video, or when wanting to run as challenging as possible.

Could this possibly be changed so there are no messages at all when comfirmation supression is active for a future update? Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

Hi Jonatan,

I fully concur and have brought this up before for the same reasons - when "Show Control Confirmations" is unselected - - - ALL - - - on screen messaging should be suppressed - or - directed into the HUDS.

Regards,
Scott

Thanks for raising this issue.

I agree that this is not the intended behaviour. Possible bugs can be discussed in the thread "Maybe it's a bug". Given a consensus, the best thing to do is to raise a bug report on our Bug Tracker so that it doesn't get forgotten but can be picked up as soon as a developer becomes free.

This time around I have raised a report for you at https://bugs.launchp...or/+bug/2008012

I actually didn't think of it as a bug at first but something just not done yet or intentional? But if mods feel like it please move the thread there.

I took a look in the code. Looks like for instance warnings, which is the wheel slip message, is never suppressed. This comment I found in the code: "User can suppress levels None and Information but not Warning, Error and MSGs". In the manual I found this: "OR uses the same message scheme for system messages such as “Game saved” or “Replay ended” but you cannot suppress these system messages." So it looks like this is not a bug, but works as intended. However I can imagine these messages spoil a video taken from the ride. What would be a proper solution? Extra option: Suppress all messages? Let Crtl+Alt+F10 toggle between "all messages", Warning, Error" and "no messages"?

Don't know where the MSG messages come from, might be from another player in multi player mode.

"FOV change messages" are somewhat different but can easily be suppressed like the other messages. Seems logical to me.

Looks like turntable notifications are always displayed. Does anyone know where on the Australian ZigZag route a turntable is located? Or Chiltern or Mideast coast route? So that I can test?

Hi Siebren,

the Chiltern Route has a turntable at Didcot. Maybe there are more, but I haven't discovered them yet. Didcot had my interest because I had payed a visit to the Great Western Society's Railway Centre in the 1990s.

Greetings, Peter

For me, sounds as very good idea: just as with F6 "nothing/platforms/platforms+sidings/sidings/used"

Sicilia route contains no working turntables, but Manual tells, how to make it operational.

I created a fix for this, see PR https://github.com/o...rails/pull/809:

Warning and error messages can be suppressed now also.

Options Checkbox in tab System has been changed in drop down checkbox "Messages Suppressed" with the following options:

None: no messages suppressed (default)
Information: informational messages and control confirmations suppressed
Warning: warning messages and the ones mentioned above suppressed
Error: error messages and the ones mentioned above suppressed

Ctrl+Alt+F10 cycles between these four.

Chris has taken care of the Pull Request, so that this fix is part of the unstable OR version https://james-ross.c...2019-28-19.zip. Changed documentation can be found at: https://open-rails.r...-confirmations.
