Hey everyone,
I happened to see this comment over on the Trainsim forums under the screenshot forum on there and thought I would bring it up here to see if Open Rails could fix this.
For dead in tow locomotives this was brought up and I think this should be an easy fix.
The post is as followed by Shawn K.
ORTS has some nice features that appear when you left click on a unit in the F9 window. I simply click "Toggle Power, Toggle MU Connection, Toggle Battery Switch" This will give the feel and appearance of them being dead in tow on the trip. The only thing ORTS doesn't seem to do correctly at the moment, is actually kill the lights and sounds on those units, as the ground lights were still on and the sounds still produce the "idle" sound versus completely shut off.

Sound triggers are present, but mostly haven't been used yet.
Lights do have many options too. (out of service or so)
At the same time, placing a unit within a train (not consist) means some rules about lights to be obeyed in real life.

Yeah most content is made for MSTS and the .sms files have to be manually edited to use ORTS engine startup/shutdown streams, this is a monumental task which is why it's not been done on a global scale.
