running on the Lozere V2 route in Open Rails

a typical Rail Car train consist that would have been seen in the early 1960s

between Clermont - Ferrand and Ales France in the Cevennes region

later the same day the daily mixed train seen in the region with some ex Italian coaches in use for tourist traffic

in the mid 1930s these Autorail Renault rail cars came into service many found their use along the route

must have been OK for the driver in winter sitting next to this but in the summer must have been very hot

I really love that model of the panoramique railcar, and not just for the young lady on the top deck who winks at you!

French engineers are renowned for coming up with very elegant solutions for things nobody else would regard as problems, autorail designs illustrate this very clearly.

That route is certainly spectacular, I shall have to investigate further.

another simulation

set inthe late 1950s a Paris to Nimes express double headed the second loco was seen more on freight duties
