Could this be added to the list of model animations? Like the ORTSBell_xx syntax we could use ORTSWhistle_xx for the whistle lever and rope.

I kinda agree with you on this. Also keep in mind that many locomotive parts have control shafts or levers visible externally that move when operated. Injectors, front-end throttles, cylinder cock linkages, blowdown valve linkages and sander linkages (unless power- or air-operated) all come to mind.

Yes, we could animate ALL these and it would make for amazingly detailed models. I picked the whistle because it is one of the more prominent features with its rope and pull lever that are readilly visible when moving.
