Wonderful beasts indeed! I'd suggest lightening that black to a very dark grey, it's currently just a black blob with no visible features.

Is this better? Didn't want to go took light,

Yes that works nicely. You can see the shapes and details now. And I agree on the "black" version, she looks sharp! :good:

One method I use to empathize the "roundness" of an object is to give the texture a gradient. Doing this is increases the amount of texture work needed with lots of dedicated patches that need to be mapped to each part. While it takes time the results look very nice as shown on my most recent model:

My efforts are modest compared to our professional texture artist Tim Muir who has it down to a science.

Hello.
I think, too glossy.
I like those wheels best.
And arcs above the wheels... I hope, they will be advanced.
Boiler cover... I think, it have to be more matt, furthermore, You mentioned cheap paint used.
I'll look for museum locomotive for You to compare, but keep in mind: that one doesn't work,
It's just an exhibition sample.... Wait a while.
Rare case, then the prototype is more candy, than MSTS reproduction

When the Seneca was rebuilt in 1862, she got Stephenson valve gear, which required the removal of the 2nd pair of drivers. Later rebuilt Pennsy camels lost their boiler-top cabs and got more conventional houses on the back end. Also, they lost the Winans firebox, replaced with better designs.

Yeah, i'd desaturate that a wee bit Frank! Was this the right color?

Hey, love the left-handed headlight on the B&O 170. Seems weird but so were the camels. Are you going to make that cab-forward camel too, Frank?

I did a "proof of concept" working with the more modern version of the "cab forward" camel CENTIPEDE.

It was pretty simple I just moved things forward and extended the piston rod and crosshead guide. From the drawing it looks like Winans did the same thing. The animation still works, I didn't mess with the running gear, didn't have to. I'll give the older version a shot.

Still working on SENECA. Trying to get the valve gear to work. The eccentrics are given me problems. I think I'll skip the whole parent/child thing and animate part individually.

The "as delivered" version of CENTPEDE.
