The Lozère network - Sainte Cécile d'Andorge line - Florac
Initially, the Freycinet plan provided for the construction of a standard gauge line from Anduze to Florac. Later, this project, converted to the metre gauge, was supposed to go as far as Mende. But finally, after various vicissitudes - including the refusal of the PLM of the concession of a standard gauge line - it is the route Sainte Cécile d'Andorge - Florac which was retained, in metric gauge. Construction began ... only in 1904! The Compagnie des Chemins de Fer Départementaux (CFD), on the strength of the success of vivarais, was in charge of the construction and operation. The line was inaugurated in 1909. / Although the Freycinet plan was initialy forecasting a standard gauge line from Anduze to Florac, later, the project has been converted in a narrow gauge line, from St Cecile d'Andorge to Florac. The line has been opened in 1909.

The line was built according to the principles developed for the Vivarais (moreover it was considered an antenna of the Vivarais network, depending technically and administratively). It was 48 Kms, and culminated at 788 m, in Rouve-Jalcreste. / The line was built using same principles than for the Vivarais (it was considered as a sub-railway); the length was about 48Kms and the biggest altitude was at the Rouve-Jalcreste pass, at 788m.
Served in particular by 120+020 T Mallet, and especially by the famous "De Dion" railcars, its traffic was quite low (especially woods for the surrounding mines), and it did not survive the 60s (end of service in March 1968). Unfortunately, an attempt to convert it into tourism did not lead, the bad tongues arguing that this failure was mainly due to the fact that the department wanted to recover in places the right of way of the railway to widen the national road ... / The most famous rolling stock was the Mallet 120+020T, and the De Dion railcar. The line has been abandonned in 1968, because the trafic was more and more low (some wood for the mine). Unfortunately a project for a touristic railway has not been succesfull (perhaps because in some location the railway track needed to be suppressed to enlarge the local road).

The relief was generated from extraction of DEM coordinate files (made with DEMEX), so the geographical positioning of the channels is pretty much accurate (unlike the Vivarais!). / The landscape has been generated from DEM extraction, using DEMEX. Therefore the tracks are more or less at the xtact coordinates, at the contrary of the Vivarais!

It takes many objects from the Vivarais, and "borrows" many objects from A. Cheuton (Douce France and Morvan), R. Morot, P. Gauriat and P. Grando, D. Choquet, JC Gendre for the buildings of the Massif Central, as well as other talented creators (especially Italian and Spanish). And of course all the work of D. Ardennes on the seasons of Vivarais and the improvement of its décor should be found here! And Fulvio Oddone has realized many buildings of the CFD part, as well as bridges and the Cros tunnel with opening doors! not to mention the De Dion autorial and the LT62 locatractor.
