Thanks. Am I then correct in assuming that they are also not needed for running route editor and activity editor in TSRE?
Somewhat off-topic, but as many people still use MSTS Activity Editor and not TSRE, would .rit and .tit files still be needed to allow this?

And of course if no deletions are done the result is the same as it is now.

The rit and tit files each contain only this second list of TrackItems, respectively as a clone from the tdb and the rdb. I think that MSTS creates the tit and rit for faster data access, perhaps to ensure a smoother simmulation process, or even as a backup.
Anyway, I just did some tests with a small test route consisting only of a straight rail with a level crossing.
The tit and the rit were created by MSTS RouteEditor only, not by MSTS ActivityEditor or the MSTS main program. If I delete the two files and then create an activity with the MSTS ActivityEditor and run it in the MSTS main program, I can do that without any problems.
So it seems to me that the MSTS never miss the two files tit and rit but creates them again an again when saving a route with the MSTS RouteEditor.
