Following on from the threads Open Rails 1.4 is coming soon, Preparing for release OR v1.4 and Release Plan, I am pleased to announce that Open Rails Stable Version 1.4 has been released.

It is available on the website, from GitHub and from the Launchpad Project Tracker. The package will install Open Rails on your Windows PC.

If you already have Open Rails installed, then set the Options > Update mode to Stable (recommended)

and look out for the Update to 1.4 link, which is refreshed every day.

Clicking the link will upgrade your current version to v1.4.

A list of new features and changes is also available on the website and from GitHub.

There is also a 4-minute video on YouTube which introduces them.

Finally, a big thank you to the guys that make this possible; admins, coders, testers, bug reporters and our hosts,
here at Elvas Tower (thanks, Dave) and at UKTrainSim.

If seriouse, I would congratulate all the community with such a great day:
we used 1.3 version last three years.
So many innovations and improvements, so much work!
Thanks to Project and Management team members for making this real.
This project keeps our hobby alive and gives to it new space for development.
Wish good health, often luck and true joys to all my colleagues and acquaintances here, who have contributed some part of life to this project.

Release plan topic's link is dead or access restricted.

You're right - it's access restricted to the project team. I included it for completeness but you've not missed anything significant.

It was all about managing the repository so that development work was not held up while we finalised the release. That approach is new and it worked out fairly well.

I know a lot of folks here are well accustomed to using unstable versions, but introducing a wider audience to all the work and new features done over the last few years is huge! Getting everyone up to speed on the latest and greatest stuff is quite the achievement.

I just upgraded to version 1.4. I fired up an activity on MLT Sandpatch and the audio is making a popping or static noise. I closed out 1.4 and loaded up the latest Monogame version I have installed (103.1) and the popping sound is gone. I then loaded up an activity on Mullan Pass using version 1.4 and the same sound issues occurred. Any ideas on what would be causing the sound on 1.4?

Thanks

No sound issues here but have noticed a drop in fps of around 10-12 in v1.4 compared to Monogame version. Not a complaint just an observation.

Are there any benefits from using 1.4 as opposed to ORMG?
Now that there's a new stable OR release will ORMG continue to be updated?
Nice little bit of work there gentlemen. Congratulations.

Randy

I would be happy to use v1.4 instead of Monogame but as a Raildriver user I would need that tab to be present on v1.4
