It's March 11, 1941, K-36 #482 departs Alamosa at 11:15 PM the day before (March 10, but the run is on the 11th) with 8 loads, 34 empties.

Crew: Conductor Curtis, & Engineer Palmer.

The empties are 13 box, 18 tanks, 2 idlers, & a caboose.



Soon, the train runs down the valley.

As the train runs south...



... it rolls through La Jara.

The train stops at Romeo for station switching.



After 30 minutes, the train gets underway...



... as it rolls over the bridge north of Antonito...



... & pulls into Antonito at 1:20 AM (it is now March 11).

After 20 minutes switching, 10 minutes putting coal and water in the tender, & 40 minutes for X476 east (the engine was on the Santa Fe branch clearing the line with Rotary OY), the train departs Antonito at 2:30 AM with 2 loads, 32 empties.







Soon, the train stops at the Lava tank for water (5 minutes).



Not long after leaving Lava, at MP 292, the train gets stuck in the snow (the time is 3:30 AM).

After the crew digs the train out of the snow, they back down to Lava siding & set out the 13 empty box.



After that, the train climbs the hill.



At Big Horn, X482 meets X484 East.





Soon, the train pulls into Sublette.

After 25 minutes of putting water into the tender & time for the crew to eat, the train gets underway.





The train rolls through Mud Tunnel.

As the train heads west...



... it rolls through Rock Tunnel...





... & stops at Osier for water.

After the train leaves Osier, it rolls over Cascade Creek trestle.







Soon, the train passes the tank at Los Pinos.

As the train climbs the hill...





... it rounds Tanglefoot Curve...



... & pulls into Cumbres at 7:45 AM.

After 20 minutes of inspection, the train departs Cumbres at 8:05 AM.



The train rounds Windy Point...





... & rolls over Coxo Crossing.
