These are quite subtle cues. If the driver doesn't spot them, then the work that is going into this feature will not be appreciated.
Perhaps WSP could flash in the HuD when active. In OR you will see yellow wheel slip warnings, but with WSP then you should not get a red wheelslide notice or that horrible buzzing sound that comes with wheelslip. Is there some way to turn off that horrible buzzer? (It is not a feature of any real trains that I know of, either ancient or modern).

There is a substitution wav-file with reduced volume

Does the brake force and the BC pressure not fluctuate when WSP is actually working?

Is this not enough, as in real train videos, that seemed to be the only indication that the driver got?

Is it possible to edit the SMS file to stop it playing?

How about notifying the player that WSP has operated with a "confirmer" announcement?

I think that using a confirmer message would be painful as it might turn on and off a number of times in quick succession.

The other alternative might be to change the brake cylinder pressure text yellow when WSP is active. This would only appear in the Extended HuD. Would this be an acceptable compromise?

Just found it - "control error buzz" - not part of Open Rails, some MSTS thing that is in all of my Global sound folders. It will be dealt with. I shall be renaming silence.wav. How did I not realise this before.

It can also be silenced outright, or, in my case, modified to be a version of the Win XP stop error with a ton of reverb

Exactly!
You can: (in order of ascending complexity)
Remove file
Replace file
Edit SMS

perhaps, there is some hidden trigger, so it may be tied with other locomotive-specified buzzer sound...
Or better, as we are with ORTS, we can ask devs to make it visible/editable.
In SMS, or in ENG files.

Fine by me.

I'm not much bothered by the style of indication, but I do think there should be an indication. It seems a shame to provide a new feature which is then difficult to discover.

In reality, there is no such beep, especially on older models.
Wheel slip noise can be heard, especially when the window is open.
A good driver doesn’t even need it because he hears, feels, and closes the controller right away.

Apply the same basic logic to power while holding the throttle constant and you've just simulated IDAC. :p
