Is there any way, within a timetable, to have a train stop at a station, detach a number of units and then be stabled close to the end of the platform or the nearest signal?
Also, but unrelated, is it possible to show a message to the player when, for example, he/she stops at a station?
Thank you in advance.

Hi.

to stop a train and detach some units, is possible. For the train to be stabled at the end of the platform, only if it stops at that end and then detach the units. In that case yes, it is possbile - I would make him turn static at #dispose!

If you want the train to first stop, detach units and then move to the end of the platform, or near a signal... only if you provide a seconf 'interactive' platform with a diferent name and have it on the timetable. So, it is also possible... just a little trickier.

Messages are not seen to be displayed in timetable mode, only in activity (events)
Must the train move forward after detaching, or no?
How the full procedure must look? The detached cars are taken by someone to somewhere, or become a static consist, dropped-off by tha platform?

Yes, the train would need to move forward after the detached units become a static consist.

If I understand correctly, the train is to stop at the normal position at the platform, detach part of the train and then move on to the end of the platform.

Try this :
  • create a path which starts in the platform and terminates at the signal.
  • terminate the train in the platform (set arrival time), detach part of the train and form new train, with route as defined above.
  • set departure time for new train and include command $nowaitsignal.
Setting this command will make the train depart even if the signal is at danger (normally, a train will not depart if the signal show stop).
  • terminate the train at the signal, forming into whatever it is going to do next.

I have not tried this but I think it could do what you want.

Rob Roeterdink
