Hello Folks

Getting "out of memory" error quite often during gameplay, although FPS is reasonably good. Pls guide me. Attaching the log file.

You have a rather old version of the ORMG.
I suggest you upgrade to MG88 and see what you get.

Hi,
Over the last couple of days, I, too, have experienced out of memory crashes, using MG v87.1.
I have 8GB RAM. For one of my test runs, I used Windowed-mode for OR and also showed Task Manager on screen to monitor memory usage. The memory kept increasing as the activity progressed.
I've tried with both the 64bit exe file and the 32bit version. With the latter, the memory still increased, but not so high as with the former, but both crashed with "Out of Memory" exception.

I wouldn't have expected OR to use more than 8GB, but I added an additional 4GB to my RAM. Running exactly the same activity, Open Rails didn't crash!!

Today, I removed the extra 4GB and re-ran the activity. Again it crashed, but this time it took out the "GPU Device" which meant the only way I could get control of the PC was to "hard" reset it.

The route is Chiltern, available from UKTS, and the activity RS_Football Special. The activity runs for about an hour; the crash doesn't occur at exactly the same location each time, but is between 1.5 and 2.5 miles from the final destination, High Wycombe, after running for approximately 55 minutes.

Attached is the log from today's run.

Cheers,
Ged

Thank You Sir

Could you please share the link of this version?

Ged,
can you try checking the option "Load day/night textures only when needed"?
And if you still get the problem, leaving the above option checked, can you try checking also the "Reduce Memory Usage" option?

Hi Carlo,
Many thanks for the suggestions :)

Setting the "Load day/night textures only when needed" option enabled me to complete the activity successfully (using 8GB of RAM).

Do you wish me to carry out any further tests?

Cheers,
Ged

Hi Ged,
that's good so, thank you.
I don't need further tests. I suggest to have the "Load day/night textures only when needed" always checked. It hasn't shown disadvantages and it reduces both memory usage and loading time.
The option "Reduce Memory Usage" has less effects and has still an issue, that is signal lights become unlit sometimes after some activity run time, and it is necessary to save and resume the game to have them again lit; so it is a last chance option.
