The Route of "SUOJARVI" (from Finnish "swamp-lake")
Version 1.1
**************************************************
Total length of the route is about 450 km.
The route is based on Kuznechnoye - Suojarvi - Petrozavodsk section of the Oktyabrskaya railroad's Petrozavodsk department.
Most of the route is unelectrified, with the exceptions of section Petrozavodsk - Tomitsy (25kV AC) and Kuznechnoye station (3kV DC).
Track profile, trackwork, the locations of bridges and crossings are real.
All information, including the track profile, is taken exclusively from open sources, as well as during numerous trips along the route.
Depots
The entire section is served by Suojarvi locomotive depot, which also has a replacement point for locomotive crews at Sortavala station.
At Elisenvaara station, a convoy of locomotive crews from TCh-12 (depot St. Petersburg-Finlyandsky) has their sub-base for service of the section Elisenvaara-Kuznechnoye.
The Suoyarvi-Tomitsy-Petrozavodsk section is also served by locomotive crews of TCh-25 Medgora, which has a branch-depot at the Petrozavodsk station.
Freight operations
Work is split by the "shoulders": Kuznechnoye - Sortavala, Sortavala - Suojarvi, Suojarvi - Tomitsy - Petrozavodsk.
Stations of freight trains formation: Kuznechnoe, Elisenvaara, Sortavala, Matkaselka, Vyartsilya, Suojarvi, Tomitsy, Petrozavodsk.
Passenger traffic is represented by fast, passenger, commuter, tourist and retro trains.
Rolling stock
Diesel locomotives of the following series are operated: (D)M62, 2M62(U), 3M62U, 2TE116, 2TE116U, TEM2, TEM18DM, CHME3, TEP70(BS).
Electric locomotives: 2(3)ES5K, 2(3)ES4K, VL80(S, T), VL10, VL15, EP20, EP1M.

This add-on requires:
- XTracks 3.20
- NewRoads 4.0
- MSTS-Bin 1.8.052113

Chapter 1
Kuznechnoye-Hiitola at summertime

The suburban trains from Leningrad-Finlyandskiy terminus take you there at 3 hours, covering about 156 km.

The station is placed at the lake's shore.
Attached Image: Kuz-TT_036б.jpg
Since the Kuznechnoe is a last station at electrified part of the route,
Attached Image: ITR_01_002.jpg
transfer to DMU-train, if you are traveling towards Sortavala, is needed.
Attached Image: ITR_01_003.jpg
Three pairs of interregional passenger trains make their stop here daily:

Freight trains are being re-formed here...

...and change electric locomotives to diesel ones, when come to the North.

So, there are two sidings, where locomotives can be served, while waiting for further tasks.
Attached Image: Kuz-TT_038.jpg
Electric ones take return trains, which are going towards South:
Attached Image: Kuzn_1002.jpg
The most of freight here is granite, as number of quarries and a grinding-sorting plant are nearby.
Attached Image: 3110_002.jpg
Numerous times daily, empty dumpcar trains arrive for grinded granite for beton, asphalt and road construction.

MOW bases take ballast from here too.
Attached Image: Kuz-TT_029.jpg
Most powerful ВЛ15 locomotives are used for heavy trains hauling.
Attached Image: Kuz-TT_032 (2).jpg
There are two pool-tracks for 2 EMU consists storing near the northern end of the station.
Attached Image: Fr_001e.jpg
And former runaround track of quarry/port branch is used as a pool for locomotives too (see above).
Attached Image: Kuzn_1004.jpg
The route goes uphill, so, it's hard to accelerate heavy trains, northbound from Kuznechnoe,

Downloaded just from there.
Scenery not always looking exactly as prototype, but well-done.
What about a "real" trackwork, the author flatters himself a little.
Winter-textures cause lags, summer ones-more stable.
Water has issues. But I like how everything looks.

Started timetable-project for Screenshooting with traffic&static.
TT will be fictious, due to very few trains are sheduled today.
But I'll try to refer with 1989 timetables...
Here are some retired takes of images:
Morning at Kuznechnoe's park.

Very dangerous type of crossing. There where many accidents, due to car-drivers careless.

I suppose you mean to say, it was not repainted in РЖД colors. If so, the correct transliteration would be RZD, according to wikipedia ;)

До свиданя, Markus

Thank for good mark first. I'll try to continue catching pleasure moments.
According to life, РЖД had no colors; pid-have.

This was RZD (changed after 2010),
http://www.vedomstva-uniforma.ru/mundir11/rjdemb/emb01-m.jpg
but that is pid with all it's colors.

Suitable for steamer, however, would be:

Well, the German and English Wikipedia still abbreviate it as RZD. That's why I didn't know what you meant by pid and, thus, googled, if it could be RZD.

But doesn't that logo actually reflect the Russian letters ржд in a condensed and stylizes way - IE, reading the angled parts of p and d as belonging to both the p / d and the ж?

Cheers, Markus
