Hi Folks,

Spent some time with Monogame v85 and the latest ReShade - I'm experiencing chronic crashes - no more than 10 minutes of run time - different routes - different content - and I even tried it on a second machine with the same results.

Log File
Attached File  OpenRailsLog.txt (12.91K)
Number of downloads: 248

Regards,
Scott

I don't see crashes in your logfile.
I have run OR 85 for half an hour with ReShade without crashes.
Are you sure it is not a route issue?
Could you try the Unstable release to see if you get the same problem? As it has Monogame now, it should also support ReShade.

Hi Carlos,

Thanks for your response - it's most definitely crashing back to the main menu - I looked at a number of the log files and they appear similar to the one I posted - again - tested with completely different mini-installs (completely different content) - on different PC's.

I'm utilizing the webserver via iPad - not sure if that's relevent.

I just downloaded 86 - let me play with that a bit.

:)

Regards,
Scott

I have run rev. 85 for about an hour with my Samsung smartphone connected and got no crash. Difficult to understand what occurs to you, also because I don't know about other people getting these problems with rev. 85.

I can run over 15 min without a crash but I don't have a smartphone connected. Running ReShade ver. 4.8.2

Hi Folks,

I've subsequently loaded v86 - done a bunch of testing.

I still get chronic crashes every 10 to 15 - which I've isolated to the web server. When you guys are running it - do you have both the Train Driver and Track Viewer displays loaded on your web client (which is the way I run most often) ?

Now here's the really strange rub - with the ORTS web server running and no client connected - the sim will not crash - - - - - - ONLY when I connect a web client - PC/iPad/iPhone Edge/Chrome - running the Train Driver and Track Viewer displays will it crash. ORTS has actually crashed when launching the web client after running for an hour or more with no web clients connected. ORTS has actually crashed when repositioning the Train Driver and Track Viewer displays around on the web client. If I run the Train Driver and Track Viewer displays within ORTS - ORTS never crashes.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.
:)

Regards,
Scott

I've again run rev. 86 for an hour with my smartphone connected, track monitor and train driving displayed on it, no crash. Difficult to find out what is different in your case.

Hi Carlos,

Your diligence is appreciated and commendable.
:)

I don't want to waste your time if it's only me - you can just leave this thread for posterity - until something new comes along or anyone else can offer insights.

Just for documentation:
One more piece to the puzzle I've noticed - - - if I select the first very first choice - "Open Rails HUD" - the strictly text based display - ORTS doesn't crash. Only the more graphical choices cause ORTS to crash.

Thanks...

Regards,
Scott

It's unfortunate that the log file doesn't show a stack trace, which is essential to nailing down the cause of the crash.

Scott, any chance you're handy with Visual Studio? The only way to acquire a stack trace is to compile Open Rails and run it in debug mode.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the interest - while I know my way around Unix shell programming - I’ve only dabbled in C and I don’t have the suite loaded.

I’m surprised more people don’t have the issue as I’ve tested on two completely separate PC’s on different networks - with completely different content - with the same result. Both machines were Win10 - though - with the latest patches installed.

Regards,
Scott
