Was there a fix to view dds files in shapefile viewer?

Yes. I read somewhere that paul did an update to sfv for dds.
Never used it though. I use PSP9 for textures and I never found a way to export dds with psp.

Hi Folks,
Look for Nvidia’s Photoshop DDS plug-in - it says it’s for Photoshop but it works just fine for PSP9 - used it for years...
Big time saver to read/write DDS directly.

For shapviewer, you just drop the one file into the existing installation of shapeviewer... so it's an easy fix, no re-installation required.
For bitmap manipulation you can also use GIMP, which natively supports DDS. (Not that I love GIMP... but its there, for free, and getting better)

PaintDotNet is also feature rich and free.
I found it a little easier to wrap my head around.

I also use the Nvidia .dds plugin. So much better than saving a .tga and then having to go through opening and exporting in tgaTool to make an .ace
One thing: don't do a repaint off a .dds file. At least not if you can help it. The .dds format is compressed and looses some resolution.

:(
I installed the nvidia plugin but it's not working. i get the option of saving in dds format but when i click sabe I just get a message stating that "This plug-in rquires Photoshop 3.0 or later functionality"
oh and I'm using PSP7, not 9. Maybe it's that!
