For the last few weeks I've been working on backdating the DARv3 route twenty years to a DAR 1956 route. In 1956 the DAR was still mostly steam powered and in the summer received their first diesels, a pair of S-2s and a pair of RDC-1s. In 1968 there was a major change in Windsor. The province was building a new highway from Halifax into the Annapolis Valley and it required a causeway to be built across the mouth of the Avon River. Seeing as the Province was paying for this and it was going to end up right beside the DAR, the DAR joint the effort and rerouted their mainline between Windsor and Falmouth, shortening the distance between the two points by nearly a mile.

Quite a difference.
As you know, I love this aspect of routes that show the "way it used to be."
