Hi. I am wondering if anyone has encountered this problem in U2020.09.30-1821. It seems as though the independent (engine) brake control does nothing in regards to the brake cylinder pressure. I have the engine brake handle in the "Full Service" position (with the train brake released) and the brake cylinder pressure stays at 0 PSI.

What's going on?

EDIT: It has been determined that this problem is loco-specific. Here is my code:

Do other engines engine brakes work ok?

Yes, they work on all other locos except the affected one.

However, when I look at the brake parameter extended HUD on the affected loco, here is what I get:

For "0-0" (Leading Loco), under "Type" there's a dash in the column. If that isn't suspicious enough, the "Brake Cylinder", "Auxiliary Reservior", "Emergency Reservior" and "Triple Valve" columns are mysteriously blank, even though I specified those parameters. I have also attached my .eng file for the defective loco.

Can you see the difference between the configuration of this loco and the working ones?

EDIT: I have had a closer look at the ENG file, and it appears that the loco is defaulting to a "piped" system, which it will do if it can't read (or find) the BrakeSystemType.

You will need to look closely at the ENG file to work out why this happening. In particular look at the "(" brackets to make sure that they match correctly.

Hey, good day. Maybe you can try this first - rearrange

BrakeEquipmentType ( "Handbrake, Graduated_release_triple_valve, Auxilary_reservoir, Emergency_brake_reservoir" )

BrakeSystemType ( "Air_single_pipe" )

Mike

Thanks Mike. I did some more troubleshooting and the problem was solved by something totally unrelated to the braking system. When specifying the new "ORTSWagonFrontalArea" for the new OR-specific resistance parameters, I accidentally had added an unneeded quotation mark in the the value, which was confusing the sim.

Here is the code that was causing the problem:
 ORTSWagonFrontalArea ( "116*(ft^2)"" )

I had forgotten that my go-to .eng/.wag file editor, PSPad, adds closing brackets and quotes automatically, so I unknowingly added an additional quotation mark myself. So by correcting it to:
 ORTSWagonFrontalArea ( "116*(ft^2)" )

...by deleting the additonal quote, my braking system now works perfectly.

Just goes to show you that the source of your troubles may be the least likely suspect...

Very good bud, and I hear you, for sure.
