It's October 2, 1948, K-27 #453 depart Durango a 9:35 AM with 11 loads, 19 empties. The 361 (in place of the 375)is the helper.

Crew: Conductor Lyons, Engine 361 Squires, & Engine 453 Cummins

Consist:

Loads: 3 coal Silverton, 3 loads Silverton, 1 lumber Silverton, 1 merchandise way, combine 212, coach 310, & Business car B-7

Empties: 14 gondolas Silverton, 3 stock cars Silverton, 1 flat Silverton, & a caboose.

Soon, the train - with the helper added - climbs Hermosa Hill.

Soon, the train pulls into Rockwood.

The helper is decoupled & runs light ahead of the train, which can be seen traversing the High Line.

When the train reaches the other side of the High Bridge, the helper is recoupled & the train gets underway.

After 2 hours 30 minutes switching, & time for the crew to eat, the 453 departs Silverton at 5:15 PM with 19 loads, 1 empty. The helper left Silverton 20 minutes earlier.

Consist:

Loads: 12 ore, 4 sheep for Durango, combine 212, coach 310, & Business car B-7.

The empty is the caboose.
