Hello! I don't know if this is the right place to ask this. If it's not, I'm sorry.

In my Route project, some strange spikes appear in OR. They only show up in the OR simulator itself, in the Train Simulator Route Editor or in TSRE they don't show up. Here's a picture of what they look like:

The terrain elevation data belongs to version 4, you can download it here: http://srtm.csi.cgiar.org/download

You can't find Blackart anymore either, but I don't think it will solve anything.

If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this, I'd appreciate it, because I've tried everything without it being solved.

Thanks!

Have you tried leveling the terrain in the areae in spite of not seeing it? That kind of thing ussualy happened when I used Route Editor and either on Re or TSRE I leveled the terrains all wall went well. Stopped ahppening since I started using TSRE5.
Maybe it's something to do with the distant mountains terrain. Have you tried seeing that in TSRE5?
Send me a PM you need anything else.

I had something similar happen a few years back. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out. In my case it was the video card.
Also, check the hgt file for defects. These were originally done on film and scratches or sprocket holes will mess with what you see in the sim.

This thread at TS forums will provide Goku's answer about getting rid of these terrain spikes. They were common with the MSTS RE, not so much with TSRE, somehow you've generated them while building the route. See Goku post#14 -- I set the height as instructed and then put the brush at the top of the spike and pulled it down to the required level.

I've had to deal with these too. I found it to be easier to fix them in Kuju's editor than Goku's because the circle cursor helps position you to the correct vertex. You just need to find the aberrant vertex and edit it's height to be the same as an adjacent vertex. If it doesn't work (or comes back in another editing session, increase the area to flatten, save, and then go back and adjust any vertex as needed to conform to the desired terrain.

Hi!

More details:

When you press "8" (Camera Free) in OR, and you get close to the spikes, their base disappears (not the top), and on the floor there is a pattern of black squares that appear and disappear when you turn your gaze.

It will have to do with the video card? I understand it less and less, nothing of what has been explained here works, but thanks anyway for the help.

What video card do you have?
I had all kinds of weird stuff pop up. Only happened on one route that I can remember, the Lasalle.
Drove me nuts for about three months and then I upgraded the video card and voila.
Do you have another video card to swap out? Just to see. Worth a shot.

Hello Steve!

Thank you, the card is an Intel HD Graphics 2500 integrated into the motherboard, which is a GIGABYTE H61M-USB3H. It has a 3 Gb reserve.

I also have another 1Gb NVidia video card (now I don't remember the model).

I will try to change it to see what happens and comment here the results.

Thanks!

Hello!

I tried a simple thing in OR. Disable the Distant Mountains, so the spikes disappear.

This means that the problem is in the Distant Mountains, which were built at the time with DEMEX.

It could even be that the .hgt file with which the Distant Mountains were made did not work well.

Is there any other method to create them, for example using TSRE?

Thank you!
