Hello,
By testing in winter conditions (out temp = -16°C = 3.2°F), I did a run with a BR 4-6-2 Peppercorn A2 (MaxSteamProd around 34.000lbs/h - 250 psi - ORTSEvaporationArea = 2637 sqft), hauling seven BR MkI coaches (Size 2.85m 4.02m 19.82m ). "MaxSteamHeatingPressure" parameter is defined @ 80 psi. In these conditions, steam consumption for heating coaches doesn't excess 300 kg/h (around 700 lbs/h), a very low value for such cold conditions. it seems to me that we could expect at least 2000 lbs/h to maintain in coaches a convenient temperature. As a consequence, HUD "tells" me that my passengers are frozen !
Increasing MaxSteamHeatingPressure up to 100 psi rises slightly steam consumption, but not in realistic proportions.
Honestly, I'm not sure at all that this problem appears only with 1.3.1.152 version, having not tested winter conditions for a long time.
No remarks about .eng or .wag files in LogUp, and heating on HUD F5 is reactive and operative, like other commands.
Similar test with a longest train gave homothetic results.
Is there any explanations ?
Thanks for your help !
Cheers,
Jean-Paul

The carriage steam heating model has been significantly rewritten based upon further research that has been discovered.

An initial testing model is in the unstable version (with some further enhancements awaiting the resurrection of the code bot).

Within the next week or so it is expected that a demonstration activity will be available to show how it works.

So I would suggest that have a cup of coffee and wait til this activity comes out before testing it again (well, perhaps several cups of coffee).

Thanks

Thanks Peter !
I've just made a full coffee pot... Hem, around two gallons !
I hope it'll be sufficient !
Cheers,
Jean-Paul
