When uncoupling in Open Rails, the Player Engine disappeared. I was pulling a string of ore cars with 3 diesel locos. After coming to a stop, I displayed the Operations Window (F9) and double clicked the coupling behind the third engine. I found myself behind a thin yellowish curtain over an empty spot where the lead engine (Player Engine) used to be. I could see the exhaust of the engine, but nothing else.

Key# 1 still puts you in the cab, but key# 3 puts you on the other side of the curtain and you can see one engine and the rest of the consist.

Anyone else experienced this uncoupling problem in Open Rails?

On closer inspection, I can see that the first two diesels were invisible from the start. Since I drive from the cab I was not aware the engines were invisible. The cab view gives the impression you are in the first engine. The yellow curtain turns out to be the engine headlight.

So I assume there is something wrong with the engine files. I have checked the .eng, .s, .sd, and ace files and all seem to agree with the .eng file references so not sure what the problem could be.

If you attach the OpenRailsLog.txt file maybe someone can provide a hint.

I have edited the OR text by cutting off the misc general route and MSTS data. Hope this will be enough.

The diesels I am having with are NS SD40-2 3339 and 3340 Downloaded from Train-Sim and supposedly ready to run.

Thanks, Gary

SD40-2 with shape file error. Extraneous "\"

NS repaint of SD40-2 from MSTS 1.4 keeps getting reused w/o fixing the shape.

If you have the paid version of ConBuilder run those SD40-2's through Shape Fixer.

The only ConBuilder program I can find is version 2.4.9 download from TrainSim. Running the problem engines thru the Shape Fixer results in the error message "Shape file has a problem beyond scope of this program to fix."

Probably best to edit the consists using these problem engines and replace with working engines.

Thanks for your help! Gary
