I have submitted a proper Trello card for the cab letterboxing feature.

Hi Yo,
thanks for your PR. I have merged it, but unfortunately it doesn't work well: the controls and indicators are all out of place here, see picture, and at the right there is a problem.
As I see that your picture is correct, I assume that there is a problem in your PR to OR NewYear MG.
I'll try to abort the merge.
P.S. OK, I was able to abort the merge both locally and remotely.

Hmm, could you share a link to the locomotive you're running? I can't reproduce that bug on my system. I've tried matching your resolution, too.

Unfortunately COVID-19 appears to have caused a huge surge in UK TrainSim downloading! I'm still trying to get through the queue, but if possible, could you upload the equipment to a file hoster and PM me the link?

Also, I've pushed a fix for control flickering in letterbox mode that may or may not be related to what you're seeing. To test it out, you can use this branch of mine, which is based off of your NewYear branch.

Edit: And have you tried other trains, by chance?

I have tried with the version of your link, and I get the same problem.
I have tried with the default Dash9, and I get the same problem.
I'm testing in window mode.

No dice! I'm just not seeing what you're seeing. :(

I notice that, despite using the same video mode as you (1366x768, windowed), my train driving window is much larger than yours. Is there some kind of scaling setting we're not synced up on?

And here is the Class 150 train and cab (1920x1080, fullscreen, 125% font scaling):

Can you attach the logfile, so that I check whether there is some difference here?
I tried on full screen and windowed mode, with fast full screen-alt tab checked and not, and always the same result. The (0,0) of the cab background seems to be positioned at the (0,0) of the OR window, instead of being positioned after the right black stripe.
To reduce the dimension of the Train Driving Window you have to click on the yellow dot.

Yes, right here. Note that even though the sim starts with "Letterbox2DCab" set to False, I use the Ctrl+1 shortcut to toggle it in-game.
