Use vsync and give your rig a break.

Exactly, we are trying to achieve "reasonable" performance. Maybe 400 FPS is what you want for GTA "X"..where visual quality might not be important, but for Open Rails I think we prefer great visual quality over 400 FPS. Still if your rig has gone from 400 FPS to 44, this is not a "good" thing, as we can infer that performance has dropped by almost an order of magnitude (even less FPS in my case!). I use adaptive vsync to hover as close to 60 FPS as possible. I will have to investigate what happened to OR MG after Rel 35, which in my case includes dynamic shadows and very large shadow maps (something that I am not willing to live without). The first indication of trouble is the ramping up of GPU usage, which is apparent in external tools like MSI Afterburner (nice graphs).

Fablok, what you call "old 1.3.1" is not the official OR testing version, but the latest Ultimate version by perpetuàlKid. Look at the HUD on your picture. It's another thing.

I have found the culprit for the FPS reduction in a change I did between Rev. 49 and Rev. 50. I have now reverted the change in Rev. 54.1, which is downloadable from the usual site. It is suggested not to check the "Fast full screen-alt-tab" option for better FPS.

PLEASE HELP!

For all users who are experiencing FPS problems and are also using Nvidia GPUs, could you please indicate what version of Nvidia drivers you are using? This will help with testing.

Thanks,
Steve

Steve ! - - - I use a 1080 Ti card and I always go to " Guru3D " to check on the latest versions . I keep at least 2 earlier versions , just in case the newest one has some issues . The latest WHQL is 442.50 .
I also only upgrade the Drivers as I don't need their " Game " fixes and I check for any new changes. So far I've never had any serious issues .
I also use the same practice for ORTS and MG ( Carlos' version ) . The difference is that I always use the " Unstable " of ORTS or Carlos' latest . Remember to keep some previous versions so you can go back in case of trouble .

BTW - - new " Reshade " versions are also at that site if you require them .

Hi Steve,

I’ve got the 1070 Ti with one of the latest updates - I update when prompted - probably in the last week or two...

Regards,
Scott
