Hi OR
I realised there is an autopilot option. I ticked the appropriate box in the Options dialogue window. Then you can enable autopilot by pressing alt-A (capital A I suppose). But nothing happens. Tried it for Maple Leafs Kicking Horse Pass, and the Bernina express. Nothing happens. What have I done wrong?

Greetings

Have you tried leaving the letter a lowercase?

You need to be running an activity, no autopilot in free roam.

Well yes, there is. Two Explores, one basic "Explore" with no autopilot and "Explore in Activity Mode" where there is one. Explore in Activity Mode normally runs with Max(imum) Dist(ance) mode in place where you can't throw switches but you can go into autopilot. To line switches you have to turn off autopilot then Ctrl-M for "Manual" mode, then back to Max Dist for autopilot.

OBTW, OR doesn't care if you're in caps or not. :bigboss:

Yes. Doesn't seem to matter. Is it crucial when I try to switch autopilot on? Must it be in the beginning of a game, or can I do it while running a saved game? Can I choose any route in the game, or only explore in activity mode?

Greetings
Sven

Sven,

To run autopilot you need the following steps.
1. Choose your route.
2. choose your consist.
3. Choose where you start and where you stop.
4. Under activity choose "Explore in Activity Mode".
5 then choose start.

That's it.

Caps - nocaps, doesn't matter. When key names are specified - such as Ctrl-M for manual, or Alt-A for autopilot - they are always shown as the capital letter but in the game it matters not.

If your "saved game" was started in "Explore" and not "Explore in Activity Mode" then you won't be able to use autopilot in that saved game. 3 modes of operation: Activity, Explore and Explore in Activity Mode. Activity or Explore in Activity Mode enables autopilot operation. You can turn it on and off at your discretion. For example, when I'm feeling lazy, I will leave autopilot off while climbing a hill then turn it on going down the other side of the hill to let the autopilot do all the braking. Then I turn autopilot off to switch cars around at the bottom of the hill. :bigboss:

Thanks!
I just wish to express my gratitude to all Elvas tower members who helped me solve my problem. A big Thank You to you all!
It is a fantastic opportunity to put questions in a forum lika this, and very quickly get so many good answers.

Yes, I now enjoy my autopilot mode, looking at sceneries, and can choose not to bother with the controls for a while.

Many Greetings

Sven Ternov
