I first discovered Open Rails at least ten years ago and upon reading about the game, I learned that it lacked its own route building program, where a person can create whatever route he or she wishes. Trainz has that ability. As it stands now, one cannot build the world in OR, just make content for it, via MSTS creation.

I am into content creation and not so much into operating trains.

I hope that OR moves forward to becoming a full package that allows one the freedom to create content of every kind.

Cordially,

Flangehead.

Search "TSRE" here

If you frequent TS look up the forum "Goku's Route Editor"

Don't go into TSRE expecting surveyor mode levels of ease of use. Take your time, start with making scenery upgrades for preexisting routes, and eventually, it will seem just as intuitive as Trainz. kind of xD

TSRE is available here ===> http://koniec.org/tsre5/data/
Partial Users Guide here ===> http://koniec.org/tsre5/data/
More User Guide here ===> http://176.31.246.19...49a93ef3c611956
Good info here ===> https://www.trainsim...-s-Route-Editor

I used TSRE for the rebuilding and removing the terrible database errors from the PRR-East Patch 7 resulting in (after two years work) the PRR-East version 2.
I completely rebuilt Philadelphia and Altoona, added six working turntables and added speed limits entire route. Many other cosmetic improvements too.
All done with this incredible new editor. So the PRR-East 'upgrade' was New Editor School for me. As an experirnced MSTS Route Editor user it took me some getting used to as the new editors controls are almost the same as the MSTS RE but not exactly the same.

The good news is it will take you about 30 minutes to set up a 3 tile practice route.
I did this and spent about a month practicing before I jumped into the PRR for some heavy post grad work . . . which over 2 years went amazingly well.

Download the available manuals (not much but you gotta read them!
Print them out and put in a binder for EZ reference. There ARE differences and you need to know them.
Good info at Trainsim.com too. Route editor tips and tricks.

regards,
vince

edit:add info.
