Its a hardware setting,
OR does not have access to the hardware, so cannot do anything!

Download the stable release version of OR and try and see if the problem still remains. If so, start looking on the hardware forums! Backup the existing OR version first.

Thanks

Maybe .., Because TSRE and some other software works perfectly fine off the AMD GPU .. :curiousPC:

On computers with dual GPUs, it is windows that decides which program uses which GPU. Some come with a utility that can be used to make the alternative GPU the main one and others require reference to the manufacturer for instructions.

Heaving the same issue whith my new laptop. Never mind when I add openrails.exe to be dedicated by GPU - Nvidia settings or Windows Display Settings - when I push the start button, the game comes back to start menu immediately. Even log file not starts.

Shame windows doesn't automatically use both GPU's when two are available. I'm led to understand each program has to be written to take advantage of that.

The change has to be made either automatically by the computer, or a change made in the bios to use the Nvidia card. If the change is made in the bios, it is basically permanent until changed again by the user.

For the automatic change some computers have the required instructions, otherwise one has to refer to the manufacturer for the instructions.

There is a new WIN10 feature that was included with the last windows update on my laptop [ Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling]. Previous to this windows update I was struggling to get Open Rails to run using the Nvidia card instead of the intel. I tried all the usual options through the Nvidia Control Panel...for a while I had a context menu choice to "Start this program using the Nvidia Graphics Card" ( I don't recall the exact words...but you get the point ) and that seemed to work.

Now with the last windows update, and a Nvidia update --- the context menu choice has disappeared. However, it appears that those two updates have fixed the problem... now when I start OR it does use the Nvidia Card. Both cards ( default intel and Nvidia ) are still listed in the OR log.
With the desktop -- one card Nvidia GTX 1660 ---there are no problems.
