Hello Everyone ... !!!

One of my friends who`s been plying Open Rails is facing this problem, whereas instead of using the dedicated AMD GPU (M7 440) for rendering. Open Rails seems to be stuck on using the integrated Intel HD 620 GPU .., which due to obvious reasons causes performance issues. Even though we both tried every solution or workaround we can try, It seems that Open Rails just cant seems to use the AMD GPU for rendering. Tried the stable, testing as well as the MonoGame versions, still same issue persists.

If anyone have any solutions or if they had the same issue previously, any help on this issue would be appreciated .. Thanks ..

this needs to be solved through the graphics adapter settings, not by OpenRails. AMD has some configuration program (used to be Catalyst) where you can configure for which applications the dedicated GPU will be used. Although there is a predefined list containing the most common games, OR is not part of such lists, and needs to be added manually. Same applies for Nvidia GPUs.

That is already tried and tried like a dozen times .. Unfortunately still issue persists. Other games work perfectly off the AMD GPU , except for Open Rails ... :(

Are you setting the OR with a AMD Utility or in Windows? If not in Windows you may want to try doing that since you have Windows 10. Here is an article on how to set it up: How to Choose Which GPU a program uses. It also shows how to verify that the program is using the correct GPU.

This is how I have OR set up to use the GPU and it worked for me.

Hope this is helpful,

Phil

Hello .., Unfortunately , the above trick of using Windows itself to select AMD GPU didn't work ... Open Rails is still using the integrated HD 660 GPU ... :furiousPC: :curiousPC:

Hi,
I won't pretend that I know anything specific regarding this problem, but perpetualKid is absolutely correct. There is no way that Open Rails can actually select which graphics card it uses - it is a setting between Windows and the graphics systems.

Cheers,
Ged

Maybe .., Because TSRE and some other software works perfectly fine off the AMD GPU .. :curiousPC:
