After taking a significant break from MSTS/OR to explore and learn how to work in RW, TSW and TRS19 (all of which are beautiful for different reasons; and which I enjoy immensely as well), I decided to come back to MSTS/OR and work some edits for my brother and I to enjoy.

From my own perspective, MSTS routes work best in winter [hence my reason for my first edits]. The lack of underlying mosaic textures in other seasons take away from the overall effect significantly in my opinion. Still, as I've posted numerous times elsewhere, this game still keeps my interest and attention -- for a variety of reasons.

Anyways, I decided I'd share this weekend's efforts toward updating the Niagara Corridor.

I've replaced trees, ground textures and tracks so far. Still plan to replace house, some buildings and the cars.

Enjoy.

PS: Can anyone please share on how to run off that annoying text line when taking screenshots?!!

Nice route work.

Looks to be in ORTS.

I sure wish RD Murphy hadn't abandoned us before he completed his precipitation effects. As it is in ORTS, the falling snow never reaches the ground, and it also does odd things in proximity to structures.

Not so in MSTS:

Thank you, Andre.

And yes, I have hoping to find improvements for snow in the game. So far my experiments have not turned out anything worthy.

With the TSRE editor ROW paint tools there is no longer a need for Mosaic painting of tiles!

The Tool will paint the terrain under and along the ROW between TrackNodes in seconds.
I did not make use of this during my re-do of the PRR-East as I needed practice and didn't have the time. Also there was the issue of the editor (TSRE) not compressing the resulting painted tiles, each ending up as a 900 kilobyte file.

Yes, on the Options screen General Tab remove the check from the 'Control Conformations' checkbox.

vince

..the precipitation box size can be altered in the Open Rails Options screen, Experimental Tab

Has anyone tried to reach out to Mr. Murphy?

Hopefully he is ok and just taking a break from the hobby.

Robert

Nice shots. And that's the most wintery shot, Andre. But where's the snowman? ;)

Hi...

Does "Disable Control Confirmations" work for that ?

If not and you use ReShade - assign the ReShade "Print Screen" function to a different key and use that instead - no bannner… I use [Ctrl] [Print Screen]...

Hi Folks,

Here's a post I made explaining how to paint miles of ROW in seconds - in TSRE - for those unaware...

https://www.trainsim...-ROW-in-seconds

Cover that naked ROW - will ya...
:p

Nice work Scott, I was talking a few years back with Robin about reworking the Niagara. I would love to rework the bridges of course over the Hamilton Bay area.

Hi Ian,

Sounds good - not my work on the route though - I just commented on painting ROW (unless there’s another scott posting - LOL)...

Scott
