Continuing on with my last post:

Meanwhile, down the Connecticut River valley, south of Brattleboro a north bound CV freight is nearing the Brattleboro yard where it will pick up a helper for the grades ahead. The diesels slows for the yard limits and then work their way slowly up to the back of their waiting helper steam engine.

Brattleboro is also a crew change point so while the crews are changed the engineer and fireman of the helper locomotive that will be bringing up the front of the train in its journey up the valley to White River junction connect their locomotive to the train. The new crew starts pumping up the brakes and before to long the train is ready to depart. The two engineers with time learned practice notch out their locomotives and the train starts to head north out of the yard.

Hi Paul,

Happy New Year and simply stunning - one and all - nice work - sir !!!

Your mods are fantastic...

Definitely in my top 5 favorite routes of all time...

I keep daydreaming while looking out at the Northern end - wondering what it would look like to make Wells River... Hah - or possibly West out of Bellows Falls to Rutland - if I could only lay track...

I've got it in the back of my head to make the B&M T1's, P4's, and K8's (probably in this order) if I ever get the time...

Regards,
Scott

I have track laid from Bellows Falls (all of Bellows Falls is in pace) to Rutland (70% of Rutland is in place)... BUT...

...wrong era for you.

I'm sure you'd want something to represent the early 50s. Mine is set in the late 1860s and follows the references I had to work with as close as practical. (Though there ARE many places I took a bit of "creative license" in order to make things fit/etc.)

I don't know why I mentioned this... doesn't help you much, eh?

Darn.

Hi Paul,

Lovely screen shots! As always richly done with informative commentary, just like a guided tour!

Paul I'm really really liking those views of the ConnRiver line. I think that's the best I've ever seen it. What changes did you make? It sure looks good.

Scott: Paul Charland considered doing the Rutland/Green Mountain from Bellows Falls to Rutland and did lay track (including Steamtown from the sixties/seventies). I have ambitions of joining it with the Conn River and making a 1970's route. But alas I've gotten exactly nowhere so far. It's certainly still on my list, but someone else might move faster and get Paul's blessing? Or even work together with me (though I promise nothing . . . )

Christopher

Hi Andre,

LOL - your input is always welcome - yeah - Big Modern Steam is my favorite...

Hi Christopher,

Track is down ? Wow... It's a shame to let it stagnate - yeah - I'm more interested in steam - the Mikado I am working on will be done in a Rutland setup as well... I think joining the routes - if possible - would be best... Maybe someday...
:)

Regards,
Scott

Ooh, I'd love to see a 70s Steamtown in Open Rails. I'd have a reason to do up Jonathan's old 2-6-0 up as CN 89 when she was lettered for GMR. (slightly off topic, I'm REALLY surprised K&L trainz didn't include that variant of 89).

About the only route I did major modifications to was the donationware IRM route.

What I did was:
-Added tracks down the middle of Depot Street, where the future trolley loop will extend to,
-added some latice fencing next to the El Station
-moved the static CNW baggage cars to the back of the property, which is where they seem to have taken up residence
-added picnic tables from Fleegle's modified Strasburg route to the pavillion, plus one next to the steam shops (the picnic tables are actually his)
-added the NALW Turbine, the DL&W Booton coaches, the DL&W "Wickerliners", and a couple other things as static objects around the route. The turbine was obvious, as it almost never moves from it's display spot.
-added a sand tower to the steam leads/RIP tracks
-added more trees near the Western end of the line in Union

I also did a few modifications to Bob Wirth's ATSF Chili Sub, but it was only to make Galesburg look more accurate to how it looks now.

This, as it is, looks pretty close to how Peck Park looks now, but I could do with a few more touch ups

This is on my freelanced 19th century layout..

Hope you all are staying safe and healthy.
