Has this excellent work been integrated into the MG testing version yet please? I did have it working, but having updated OR MG it seems CTRL F5 doesn`t produce the new HUD
I`m using Build = 0.0.7308.28693 (2020-01-04 15:56:26Z)
Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick,
OR NewYear MG Rev. 48.3 has the new HUD (just tested it).
Neither the testing nor the unstable version of OR have it.
Remember not to update OR NewYear MG by clicking on the upper right link in the OR menu, because you return to the testing or unstable version.
OR NewYear MG can be updated only by downloading from the link which is in the posts in the OR NewYear MG thread.

CTRL F5 works great. I can't thank enough for the work done in this area.

Thanks. Yes I have the ctrl F5 working now in the latest MG version.
It makes steam loco driving with the manual fireman much more controllable and fun.

Hi All,

New improvements:
  • Dynamic brake info.(Thanks to Carlo)
  • Auto-size window more accuracy.
  • Fixed a bug when Window font size (DPI settings), was different from 100%.

I would like to remember that when you click on the Time value label, the information displayed, switch from normal font to bold font.

Attached is the new beta code aligned with the OR x1.3.1-113 Testing version.
25/01/2020. New code here.

Regards,
Mauricio.

Hi Mauricio,

Thanks for your continued efforts on this fantastic bit of kit...

If you're still interested - two requests - trivial - but would make it nicer...

ORTS remembers your window positions - the new HUD seems to remember the position but not which HUD (compact of full) - so on each start we need to select desired HUD and position it accordingly... Would it be relatively easy to remember this so no movement or HUD selection required on start up ? Perhaps I'm not your typical user - as a modeler - I load my models thousands of time during the development process for testing - any repetitive task I can eliminate from the process - just makes my life that much better....

For the Steam Locomotives - since we moved the notification for "Grate Limit Exceeded" to your HUD - - - can we eliminate the old banner notification from across the bottom of the screen - as it's redundant ? Turning off "Control Confirmations" has no effect on this notification...

:sign_thanks:

Regards,
Scott

My preference would be to leave this in place for the time being as it acts as indication for an event that does not have a visual indication in OR.

Whilst it is in the "new" HuD, it doesn't exist in the top level of the "old" HuD.

So maybe we need to work out whether we are maintaining two HuDs, or removing the old HuD.

I am seriously against removing the old HUD -- I use it all the time for the detail of information it provides...the new HUD is a game HUD...not a detailed source of information.

You can use the save and resume game options.

New improvements:
  • The save and resume game options are working now.
  • Dynamic brake setup indication improved.
  • MultiPlayer Info has now a dedicated window.

Attached is the new beta code aligned with the OR x1.3.1-120 Testing version.

Mauricio has submitted a Pull Request so the official version of Open Rails can adopt the Train Driving Info window.

I'm very pleased to have it, especially now that it's been refined as recorded in this thread.

Peter made an excellent point comparing this new window with the other windows (F4, F8, F9, F10) used for driving a train. In the PR, ORMT (James and I) were invited to make some decisions on adopting the new window. We want the new window to have the same stature as the other windows so, in the official version, the F5 key for the HUD is going to be re-assigned to the new Train Driving Info window.

Gerry was very keen to keep the current HUD as we are, so we recommend the HUD is re-assigned to Alt-F5 (as the Alt key is generally used for debug features).

F5 has been with us forever, but now seems the right time to make this change.

More details are in the PR.
