It's March 25, 1945, K-28 #473 departs Alamosa at 11 AM with 6 cars. The reason for the delay was not shown, though a rotary run that left Alamosa at 5:25 AM was probably the reason for the delay.

Crew: Conductor Roberts, Engineer Baskett (to Chama).

Consist: 1 RPO, 2 baggage, 2 coaches, & Parlor car Durango.



The train is seen running through the San Luis Valley.

The train rolls through La Jara as it runs south.

The train makes a brief stop at the depot at Romeo.





The train rolls through the truss bridge north of Antonito.



Soon, the train pulls into Antonito.

The train departs Antonito at 12:04 PM as it begins the trip to Chama.









The train passes the water tank at Lava.

As the train climbs the hill...



... it rolls through Big Horn...





... & it rolls through Sublette.

... it rolls through Mud Tunnel.

... it rolls through Rock Tunnel.





After a little while, the train rolls through Osier; the time is noted to be 1:35 PM.

The train rolls over Cascade Creek trestle.





The train soon stops behind the westbound freight & rotary train because the rotary (the OM was used on this day) derailed just beyond the est switch at Los Pinos because of ice.



After rotary OM was re-railed (it took the crew 3 hours to re-rail the rotary), the trains get underway; the San Juan is seen passing the water tank at Los Pinos.
