Hi Rod.
Good to see that you've made a post!
We are talking "TSXX" as in DTG's offering and not "TSXX" as in Trainz, right?
Beautiful model. Interesting looking route. What route is that?

Andre, yeah that's DTG's TS, my bets are that's the Cheyenne/Promontary route as it's the only good period route availible. Smokebox did an excellent job on those and the rolling stock.

Hi Andre :) - I tend to lurk more nowadays!
Sorry, yes for DTG's Train Simulator.
The model is particularly detailed but I don't know how accurate - the cab is pretty good, probably mid range in terms of detail and function. Not sure about performance, seems to be towards the more simple end, but it doesn't just take off like a spooked horse. Sounds, smoke and steam nice.
The route is part of Mike Rennie's (Smokebox) work and there are some links below. His engines are fully functional with, I think, 3 levels of difficulty - top takes quite a bit of care to make certain you don't have a catastrophic end to your efforts to move :whistling:
The route is Promontary Summit - a load of period assets, track etc.

Other engines and stock;
CPRR Jupiter : https://store.steamp...r_clanid=958135
Union Pacific No.119 : https://store.steamp...r_clanid=958135
UPRR Idaho and Omaha : https://store.steamp...r_clanid=958135
CPRR Buffalo : https://store.steamp...r_clanid=958135
Additional stock : https://store.steamp...?snr=1_8_4__501 : https://store.steamp...?snr=1_8_4__501
Not cheap overall, but all appear in fairly regular sales...

Absolutely beautiful. Imagine had he chosen to model Donner Pass circa 1869 instead of Promontory!
Good to see you. I do hope you're doing well, Rod. I'm retired from the railroad now, and the wife is retired via my railroad retirement. SO... I tend to spend a lot of my time working on my model railroad interests (during hot weather) and riding my dual sport motorcycles during the cooler/colder months. I'm currently in a V scale slump, but I figure that will revive all in good time.
In all, life is good my way, hope yours is too!

Isn't this engine an imported Trainz model made by a user named Trainbio1?
Other then that, this would be the second completely freeware steam locomotive to have been released for TSXX this year! :D

Hi Andre, I hope that retiring from the A&O wasn't too much of a wrench. I retired from my "career" 2 years ago and I have to say it was one of the best things I ever did, though I did miss the day to day with my co-workers. Glad you are still getting out on your motorcycles (do you still have one each?)
I think the main thing has been to have a continuing focus, which for me has been working to get our house up to current standards and going back to my first love - the great outdoors!
Children, work and chasing a career made all of this difficult and hard/impossible to do - step in MSTS (in particular V Scale!) and the importance of those heady years in the Sim keeping me sane. My involvement got me through some pretty hard times, for which I am so grateful to you, Gaetan, Rich Garber and a cast of hundreds (possibly even thousands :D ).
Following my posts above, I spent some time going through my Photobucket back catalogue for the A&O and Ozark Northern - brought back great memories, and I have to say, as upped as the graphics are for the newer sims, they don't have the same emotional appeal!
Looking forward to your thoughts and tinkerings with V Scale again when you get back to it. I will lurk in anticipation :)
Yer old mate! (from across the Pond)
Rod
One totally off topic etc. photo - atmosphere and emotional appeal...still love it

Back on topic - there is a thread over at Railworks America relating to the engine
