Hello,
Can anyone guide me on how to put a tachometer into a 2-D cabview?
Is it possible yet? I have use some old MSTS cab views that pretend the throttle position is the RPM! I was hoping they could be "improved".
Perhaps something like:
Dial (
Type ( RPM DIAL )
Position ( 479 359 36 15 )
Graphic ( ..\\..\\common.cab\\Western\\RPM-Needle.ace )
ScaleRange ( 0 2000 )
ScalePos ( 413 130 )
Units ( RPM )
Pivot ( 16 )
DirIncrease ( 0 )
)
...only that does not seem to work!

I've seen it done in the MSTS era, but my computer's in the shop so I'll have to punt on this until it's back or someone else gets it

Try "RPM" rather than "RPM DIAL". The program does know a type "RPM" but not a "RPM DIAL".

Removing "Dial" does not make it work.
Something odd anyway - with or without dial I can see flickering at that location as though it is trying to draw the pointer but can not choose a stable position.

Hello,
This sequence (see attached file) is doing perfectly the job. To adapt for adequate position in cabview and adequate values.
Bes Regards,
Jean-Paul

Oh, I forgot...
Don't be astonished by some singularities...
First, "RPM DIAL" works, but not "RPM_DIAL"
Second, Units are surprising, but every dial needs an unit ! Here, KM_PER_HOUR, which has absolutely no link with a real RPM value, works perfectly ! :shok:
That's all the the charm of the good ol'MSTS !!!

Thanks Jean-Paul
Well, well, in OR you do not need to use KM_PER_HOUR it works with RPM!
When your method did not work any better than mine, I figured out there must be something else wrong.
So tried a different needle graphic! Now it works fine.
Dial (
Type ( RPM DIAL )
Position ( 494 356 3 10 )
Graphic ( ..\\..\\common.cab\\Western\\Speedo-Needle.ace )
Style ( NEEDLE )
ScaleRange ( 0 2000 )
ScalePos ( 214 131 )
Units ( RPM )
Pivot ( 16 )
DirIncrease ( 0 )
)
Many thanks.
Thanks Jean-Paul
