I find myself the best way is to copy any missing files from an existing OR route into the MSTS one I am trying to get to work. Are there any better ways?

How do you get MSTS routes to work in OR?

Hi 14xx1419,
Welcome to the Forum :)
Just about any MSTS route will work in Open Rails without making any changes. Using Options > Content, add your MSTS installation/s*** into OR's 'profile' list - don't forget to give each installation a unique name!
Note that some locos may need modifications to their .eng files to enable them to run optimally in OR.
Cheers,
Ged
EDIT : *** You must select the installation's root folder, ie. the folder which contains GLOBAL, ROUTES, SOUND and TRAINS sub-folders.

Welcome to Elvas,
Many MSTS routes require content from the original MSTS installation, which may be your case. It would help if you would tell us which route you are trying to install.
