Is it possible to have control over various lights on steam locomotives in dependent of one another? Would it be possible to change the color of marker/class lights?

Each light on a vehicle is separately specified, so any light can be any colour! No lights can be changed within a run, except when using the cab-switch to travel in the reverse direction (ORTS and MSTS/MSTS Bin patch only).

Ged, I was hoping we could spec a key set to each lighting set on a steam locomotive. This is something that they worked out in the RTrainsim project. I remember seeing the demo of it on youtube. They also have vents and louvers that are controlled by the outside air temperature and engine temperatures. They also have working physics for things like oil temperature and traction motor/generator temperatures. Impressive what they pulled off really. Too bad the coder doesn't work on ORTS.

Hi Folks,

Couldn't you use the headlight switch to control the class/marker lights - since a steam locomotive doesn't usually have a headlight that dims - use the dim position to have class/marker lights on plus headlight - the use bright for headlight only ?

Regards,
Scott

How would you set it up for,
off for a first class train,
Green for a following section,
White for an extra?

Hi Folks,

That’s not to say I wouldn’t like an actual switch - or an animation linked to the bell control state - or smoke effects synchronized to the movement of the piston (cylinder cocks)...
:)

Scott
