Hello,

I am new member of Elvas Tower. Maybe somebody can help me with an issue? I recently transferred the London & Port Stanley v301 route into Open Rails. When trying the Incline Railway I encountered a problem that I did not have in the original 5th Anniversary Edition. The incline railway cab seems to have rotated 90 degrees (see picture). Does someone perhaps know how this can be fixed?

Thank you in advance.

Mike

Thank you for asking about that!. That's been on my radar to ask as well.

Anyone have a fix?

While not a fix per say, I can tell you that the way the incline works is that it's two parallel tracks with a really tight curve at the top. The train itself is the two incline cars with numerous cable "wagons" that traverse the tight curve at the top of the hill and keep the two cars moving in unison. Just looking at the picture, it seems to me as if either OR isn't starting the train right on the path for the incline, or the brakes aren't kicking in fast enough to stop the momentum of the downward section of the "train."
My first suggestion would be to make your own path starting in the middle of the incline and see if that helps. Failing that, hopefully some of the wise sages who shuffle about here can help.

The analysis of Fleegle411 is correct. The "train" has backed up a bit from its initial position, probably because of lacking brake power. I've tried changing physics parameters, but also friction parameters and other (and maybe also something within OR) must be changed.
There is one person which would be ideal for this job, and it is a person which is the one knowing at best both the route and OR...

Hello Fleegle411 and Csantucci,

Thank you. I have replaced the starting point of the path a little higher up the hill. Now the cars are in the correct position, but something is still causing too much friction. The cars are not moving.

Yes, I know. This occurs because OR as default does not consider the friction values in the .eng file, but inserts standard values. To get appropriate values I added these three lines
	ORTSDavis_A ( 1.0E-10 )
	ORTSDavis_B ( 1.0E-10 )
	ORTSDavis_C ( 1.0E-10 )

within file InclinedRRCable.wag. However this way other problems come to surface... and I stopped trying.

OK, Thank you very much for your effort. This is beyond my MSTS/OR programming skills.
