Hey everyone,

I finally got my new PC up and running after a few little bugs that had to be worked out. Any ways I was messing around with Open Rails and came up with a few new ideas that maybe could be implemented into the game some how. I know a few have been thought of already but thought I would bring it a couple of them up again to see what others thought.

1. working detectors. A way I was thinking we could do it is have Open Rails know how long your train is, the axle count, what railroad your on, and what milepost your at.

2. working FRED

3. Working horns for cabooses/passenger cars for backup moves.

4. Changing weather. Example could be sunny one min then cloudy the next as your rolling along or possibly turning into a thunderstorm or snowstorm. Or like a real time weather option and it takes in data from the real world of what the weather is like in your route that you are on and implements it into the game for you.

5. Snow piling up the more you play and the heavier it falls along with working snowplows.

6. Actually having to stop to throw manual switches if not lined correctly. I have noticed that if your running towards a switch and its not lined you are still able to run through it no problem but that isn't exactly what would happen in the real world.

7. Sparks with wheel slip. much more common with diesels then it is with steam. Here are a few clips.

The project team is short of contributors so if you can find somebody who can code C# and likes interesting challenges then maybe some of that can get done.

How about no wheel slip just because you change cameras?

How about a built in activity generator based on the end of you last activity where all the cars you spotted are still in place at the beginning of the next activity and the only thing you have to change are the cars at the interchange.
Paul :-)

I feel a little guilty offering a suggestion with basically no way to assist in its implementation, but I would like to have an option where static consists from an activity could be imported into an explore mode run.
