forget x.4243. That numbering has gone. The numbering of the official releases is 1.3.1-nnn, where nnn increases by one on each new release.
Passing instead to the unofficial OR MG releases, to know what unofficial release OR NewYear has, you have to check the revision number of the included Readme_ORNewYear_MG_Revnn.txt file. At the moment the last release has Readme_ORNewYear_MG_Rev7.txt. I'm studying whether to introduce a more visible release.

Ambient occlusion and depth of field not working in reshade.

A new release of OR NewYear MG is available (Rel.8) at the usual address http://www.interazio..._NewYear_MG.zip .
Small improvements have been inserted, of which the correction of this http://www.elvastowe...post__p__244017 bug is the most important.

A new release of OR NewYear MG is available (Rel.9) at the usual address.
A bug correction in activity sounds and a small improvement in the platform and level crossings camera have been introduced.

I am confused on applying general OR updates to a MG version. I have the update option set to "unstable". These show as available for the MG version. Can they be installed in the same way as the main OR version or not?

You must not launch automatic updates with OR MG, else you get the standard OR version as result.
