I have written several activities for an updated version of a UK route using MSTS tools and testing the with MSTS during and after completion. No problems were found. I am now testing them in Open Rails and am finding several which will start but then crash with an error message. The log files for two of these are attached. Can anyone assist?

Look in the error log for these errors. You should be able to correct them.

Quote

Warning: Found a suffix 'n/m' which could not be parsed as a Resistance unit in C:\2MSTS\MSTSmini\NSR Lines\Train Simulator\trains\trainset\NSP_LMS_7F_9557\#7F_9557.eng:line 17

The coupler damping line for some of your stock is faulty.
The lines in the error log will lead you right to the bad wag files making repairs very easy.

The n/m in the coupler damping line should be n/m/s.

This is an ancient (2002) error by KUJU with the original release of MSTS carried forward by reskinners it seems to this day.

The reason MSTS doesn't fail is because it does not look at the damping line as error and as a result causes endless amounts of coupler problems.Open Rails correctly reads all coupler values and so these old errors have to be corrected.

vince

Just out of interest, it appears that the 2nd log file is reporting a different crash error related to the train position (I think) as it is suggesting that the fault is in the traveller part of OR.

I have corrected all the 'n/m' error is .eng and .wag files but the activity still crashes. The current log file is attached.

It seems unusual that you are getting this crash, and the NullReference messages, especially after correcting the Damping statements.

I have had run both the original default Scotsman and the Dash9, which produce the same n/m warning messages, and thus have the ENG file problem with the UoMs, however they don't appear to crash OR.

Can you provide an original copy of the ENG and WAG files for some of the stock?

Thanks

Firstly there appears to be a little confusion on the post. The log files I have sent are for two different activities on the same route. They occur at different locations. I have written several activities for this route and am now testing them in Open Rails. Of the ones I have tested so far, all but these two work with no problems.

Peter, any particular stock or should I sey and sent the .eng and .wag files for all of the stock in the activity?

This is clear, and it appears that the two activities are crashing for different reasons.

OpenRailsLog2 - appears to be crashing due to a Tracknode/Traveller issue.

OpenRailsLog1 - appears to be crashing due to an issue with the Damping value.

To tell the truth I am not certain.

The logfile tells me the piece of code causing the problem, but in theory this piece of code should not be being processed.

Does it always crash at the same time / spot? Is there an AI train loading at the time? How many trains are loaded as part of the activity?

Thanks

Thanks agoin.

In
OpenRailsLog2, can I do anything about the Tracknode/Traveller issue?

OpenRailsLog1, as far as I can see I have corrected the damper issue and it no longer appears in the log file. The error appears at the same location and there is an AI train. There are a total of 11 AI trains in the activity.
