It's spring, 1947 GN Train 238 departs Great Falls at 9 AM as it begins the run to Havre. This service started a few months before in February 1947, & this service is one of three in this era.


Great Falls was a busy place, with several branches, a line to Shelby & a line to Havre; this location has servicing facilities & a yard. Trains are still coming to & from Great Falls today.

The train stops at Fort Benton for a few minutes, then gets underway.

The train heads to the next stop. The section between Fort Benton & Big Sandy was abandoned & rails were removed at some point for some reason.

The train makes it onto the mainline & pulls into Havre at 11:45 AM & after a bit, moves out of the way.

After a layover, the train departs Havre at 1:15 PM as it heads back to Great Falls.
