For unclear reason, Windows no longer gives access to desktop for the dump-files like OpenRailsLog.txt and OpenRailsDump.csv (?)

Question: Where do you set the path to a directory instead of Desktop?

Set the LoggingPath per instructions in https://james-ross.c...g/2011/12/14/01.

Some users are not confident in making registry changes. I suggest that LoggingFilename, LoggingPath and ScreenshotPath are available in the OR Options menu.

Also, can someone please explain ViewingFOV? Would this enhance my wide-screen display?

The ViewingFOV determines the amount of the world that fits on screen - if you set it higher, you get something like a fisheye lens, while lower values are zoomed in (kinda).

The default value is 45° and the measurement is vertical, which means on a 4:3 monitor you'll get the same view as MSTS was by default (of course this could be customised in the camcfg.dat file). But, because the measurement is vertical, on a 16:9 monitor you'll automatically get more on-screen horizontally (but the same amount vertically).

So there should be no need to adjust it simply because you've got a widescreen monitor, however, you are free to change it to suit the size and distance away from the monitor you sit, or just personal preference on how much you like to see on screen.

You can change the ViewingFOV temporarily while playing with the mouse wheel, which should allow you to figure out what you like.

Here's 120°, 45°, and 20° for comparison:
