After 20 minutes, the train departs Cumbres 5:35 PM, and after rounding Windy Point, the train rolls over the crossing at Coxo.

At Cresco, the westbound freight meets Chama Extra 485 east with helper 484*, then the westbound freight rolls across Wolf Creek on Lobato trestle before entering the narrows.

* this freight was waiting 1 hour 35 minutes for X490 west.

The train rolls across the Chama River, rolls past the tank, and stops in the Chama yard at 6:45 PM with 22 loads, 19 empties. Conductor Hurley mentioned that the 490 wasn't steaming freely & that the 490 didn't handle train all that well.
