I stumbled onto the following possible bug while running a test train, and after entering the same area in the Editor, I noticed some odd things. How do I go about fixing this? Keep in mind, this route was originated in MSTS RE - I don't know if this is a possible bug or other issue.

Hi Stephen,

For the most part in MSTS RE you can fix most of these gaps by going into F7 to show the terrain tiles. I suspect that the gaps will be along a blue line (the outer edge of tiles). First thing to try is to change the error bias to zero ( 0 ) on each side of the gap. If that doesn't close the gap fully us F9 to edit the terrain by holding down the left mouse button and pulling open a "kinds" large red editing square, hit "d" so the square moves with the mouse, go aling the gap and keep hitting "f " to smooth both sides of the gap.
The third screen shot from the bottom shows a steep drop between tiles. This is caused by the tile not being created properly from the DEM files and it's flat. You can find the tile and go into DEMEX again and try to recreate that one tile or if the tile is located far enough away from the tracks where it isn't going to be seen, leave it or try to pull up the terrain to match the surrounding terrain. Have done all three methods in the past for various routes I've built.

Paul :-)

The thing is, I switched to TSRE a long time ago and was hoping that this would be easier to achieve in route development. Some of these tile were created in TSRE, but the majority of the route was begun in MSTS. I know this is a boundary problem, but am having trouble understanding the conflict here. I would like to know if what Paul suggests is achievable in TSRE.

After making a backup... and if you still have your height map files; you could try the Load Height function on the Geo Tool menu F3.

You will need to point TSRE to where your height map files are...

Selecting the Load Height button (under Terrain HeightMap) then clicking on the big red squares either side of where the gaps are.

If TSRE can't find the height map files it will tell you what area is needed.

It should close the gaps but may cover tracks, roads etc etc

That's part of the trouble. This is all after using the Load Height function in the F3 menu. Looks like playing with DEMEX is my last resort. Paul, I'll try out what you suggested tomorrow. I have to get up in a few hours for work, but I'll see if that can help. Thanks to all who have pitched in so far.

EDIT:

TSRE will show the white gaps between different size tiles. It looks this way only in TSRE. In OR/MSTS everything will be looking fine.

If you want to avoid this situation in TSRE, please create custom size tile using MSTS RGE. TSRE can create only 2x2 km tiles for the Detailed Terrain. If your route already uses diferent sized tiles, then you need to live with these gaps in TSRE.
