Yes. OSM now requires SSL and my QT static build doesn't have it. And I don't have free space on my SSD drive to build new QT :(
Google doesn't require SSL and works for everyone. So you are doing something wrong.

My dynamic QT build works fine with SSL, so it is only matter of new static QT version. I'm thinking about new SSD but I have other expenses now.

That may be the case. I'm not an elderly guy, but still, I shouldn't have to bend over backwards to get a map to load correctly on the screen while I'm moving around my route. These API's are great and all, but seem to leave much to be desired. Didn't TSRE not depend on the API at one point? I seem to remember that, but my 27 year old memory may be fuzzy. I appreciate your commitment to this editor, and hope to have this figured out soon.

Take your time. I can get along with what I have for a little while. I am aware that the Maps feature is not really necessary to route editing, but it certainly helps.

Now here's a new problem with the Load Map Tool. I click Load Map, and select Raster Images Z17 as normal. Now I get a No data from the network message. Clicking Z18 causes the editor to crash to the desktop. Now I'm confused.

Anybody know how to fix this? It would really help me out on my Chicago-area route since the OSM feature isnt working anymore.

I just have Google Static Maps API key.
1. If you have just google maps key, it will not work. It must be static maps.
2. Maybe your URL in settings.txt is wrong. I see sometimes people putting stupid values there, like latitude or longitude and TSRE crashes.

Since 16 July you will have to configure payment account for maps services to use API keys. So it will be even more difficult.
