It's October 9, 1948, the 453 departs Durango at 9:30 AM as it begins the northbound Silverton hauling 9 loads, 1 empty; soon, the train rolls through Hermosa.


Crew: Conductor Lyons, Engineer Rhodes

Loads: 1 Merchandise, 6 coal, Combine 212 & Coach 280. The empty is a caboose.

At Rockwood, the train unloads merchandise (5 minutes), & traverses the High Line.

After rolling over the High Bridge, the train stops at Tacoma to unload merchandise (5 minutes), & does the same at MP 474: unload merchandise (5 minutes). The train then takes on water at Cascade Creek, & rolls over the bridge at Tefft

At Mile Post 479, the train unloaded merchandise (5 minutes), and passed the Needleton Tank.

After rolling over 3 bridges, the train pulls into Silverton at 1:30 PM.

After the crew did switching, eating & waiting 25 minutes for orders, the train left Silverton at 4:05 PM with 21 loads, 1 empty; after a while, the train rolls over the bridge at Elk Park.


Consist:

Loads: 8 ore Leadville, 2 ore Amarillo, 4 scrap Minnequa, 2 scrap Los Anglos, 2 pipe, Combine 212, Coach 280, & a 3rd coach (on train sheet it showed a 3rd coach when the train left Silverton, bur the number wasn't shown)

The empty was a caboose

The train takes on water at the Needleton Tank, rolls over the Tefft bridge, and rolls through Tacoma.
