It appears that these shader extensions (SweetFX and ReShade) might be compatible with Open Rails. I was wondering if anyone has tried.

Hi Chris,

While I have no experience with them in ORTS - all I can say is the difference they make in Flight Simulator is profound - viewing FSX without ReShade - the lighting/colors are boring, flat, and dull - - - with ReShade - - - wow - it's like viewing the world in natural sunlight - truly amazing... I'd be very interested to see if anyone has gotten them to work...

:good2:

Regards,
Scott

Was hoping someone with actual technical experience could provide a tutorial for the rest of us - not so technical types.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work, i tried a number of times with different version but doesn't seem to work. Seems ReShade doesn't inject when the game is started... :wtf01: I haven't tried with MonoGame though... :unknw:

It is easy to install, just download reshade from the official website, after open the installer and select runactivity.exe from monogame folder. After that select DX10 and keep checked all the effects.
In game press shift+F2 and follow the instruction.

0k here goes.......
1) download and install monogame from here
http://www.interazio...e/OR4075_MG.zip
( note: if OR monogame is updated and the above link fails look for the latest version in ET thread "going beyond the 4 gb of memory")

2) download and install REshade from here
https://reshade.me/d...Setup_3.1.2.exe
or maybe https://reshade.me/ (in case I got the addr wrong)
You should now have the following executable
ReShade_Setup_3.1.2.exe

3) Run the exe to get the Setup tool
The set up tool opens a welcome window

4) click "select game" and point the program to your ORTS "runactivity.exe"
5) click "open" (to open runactivity.exe"
6) A new Window appears "installing to open rails" "select rendering API"
7) click "direct 3d 10+)
8) say yes to download a collection of shaders (if nothing happens click 3d10+ again)
9) click ok for the list of files to install
10) in the setting window uncheck "skip tutorial" and save
11) Start ORTS mongame
You should see a reshade loading screen
12) Shift +F2 brings you to the tutorial screen
13) close and reopen the shift + F2 overlay and you can check the various fx in game.
Is reshade fx an improvement - I`m not sure!
Ah! Robert beat me!
