When the DDS texture option is checked, does OR look in the main folder or the OpenRails folder for the DDS textures ?

Main folder, to my knowledge.

But I only have experience with using .dds files for the route's loading screen, etc. But I don't see why there'd be a need for OR-specific .ace textures, so I'd expect the .dds files to be handed in the regular folder, too.

Joseph may be correct, but I'd try an experiment. Create an OpenRails folder, make the include file for wag or eng, cut the DDS textures from the parent folder and paste in the OpenRails folder.
See what happens.

The major image editing softwares should all be able to, though some might require extensions/add-ons to do it.

Hi Lucas,

Just an FYI if unaware - Nvidia makes a set of plugins that work with both Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro - - - it allows you to read and write DDS files directly with no intermediate conversions required...
