X.3991 had a bug in it that when you were starting an activity it would crash. X.3992 corrected it. Since you didn't provide a log this is just a guess.

I have made a fresh install of MSTS but ORTS still crashes at start, so the problem must be in ORTS.
Attached is the logfile after the new MSTS installation.

Can anyone please help. I am kind of desperate.

There is no crash in that log file, just one warning which can be ignored.

Do you get a popup message from Open Rails saying it has crashed? Could you post a screenshot of that? (You will probably need to save as JPEG to upload to these forums.)

I could not attach a screenshot but I only get the usual Microsoft error screen saying "Open Rails Activity Runner has found an error and closes" and then it return to the ORTS main menu

You are not new here in this forum, so I think you have used earlier release of OR?
So I ask you, since which modification your OR-Installation make this crash?
New Installation of OR? New Installation of MSTS? Upgrade? what else?

Do You have this Problem with different activities?

The Logfile end very early after start of the activity.
OR is writing first the Systeminformations, this are ending with the Informations about Displays.
The next line should be the Information about the soundsystem. (see in other logfile here in other bug reports.)
When you start an activity, OR is showing first a black start-screen with the OR-Label in the middle and a progressbar at the bottom of the screen. Can you see this screen and the progress-bar? How long is this bar when the crash occurs?

Perhaps with some more informations somebody can help you?
Regards
EugenR

First of all it is the problem no matter what activity I start. I see the black start-screen for about 5-10 seconds and then it crashes. I had made a new activity which ran perfectly. Then I added some loose consists and then the crash occurred. Then I deleted the activity but it still crashed so I am not sure that activity is the course.

I suggest that you remove your current copy of OR and go to https://james-ross.c...jects/or/builds and download a zip of the latest then install from that. Doing so should eliminate any possibility of having a corrupted OR installation.
