I've been searching through the forums here to try and find something that does a good job of explaining eng / wag files. I'm afraid I have some up short. The best thing I could find is still the old MSTS Techdocs file, which leaves much to be desired. Is there anything more current for writing eng / wag files from scratch?

steam4me does have Rudolph Richter's eng/wag file doc: RR's Manual
But a lot is obsolete for OR...
The OR manual is probably a good place to start as well.

The physics section at Peter's Coals to Newcastle site has a wealth of information as well.

The Physics section of Peter's site in particular is the best starting point for the construction of eng and wag files for Open Rails steam. Most of the old MSTS parameters are no longer used, instead they are derived from the eng file data so the more accurate this is, the better the performance will be.

I must admit I had all but forgotten about the manual at Steam4Me. Since I rarely us MSTS for anything anymore, except for the RE, I never have a need for any information from Steam4Me. Thank you for the reminder. It is true alot of the information in it is no longer valid for OR, it does contain information for correctly entering the data OR still uses from the original MSTS eng files.
I have not heard of Peter Coals site before but I have just had a look around over there and it appears to contain quite a bit of information relative to new OR entries for eng and wag files.
Thank you all for your reminders and information.
