Good morning to all,

I apologize for my question (a little stupid), but you can try the new Activity Editor? :sign_oops:

Thanks

The next release (coming very soon) will have that capability in beta form (minus the path editor which is available in Open Rails Track viewer). More to come in subsequent releases.

Seeing as you've taken the plunge and done something to replace KUKU's AE, please check w/ Chris on the OR team to see if he still has a list of ideas that was complied several years ago -- all sorts of ideas for new features. There should also be a number of threads in the OR Private forum, probably in Features, Activity Editor for more ideas.

One suggestion right now: I never liked how KUJU handles loose consists as a list of cars in the activity file instead of the name of a consist. If you think about it, it would be far, far easier to edit any list of cars via a .con editor than it would be to do an itemized list inside an .act file. IOW, if you want to create or edit a list of cars, use the same tool and make the end user work-process the same for all cases. That way, next week, next month, next year, some other activity you just grab a previously created .con file to use as a loose consist in the new activity file.

Amen to that Dave, and all the other posts you've made that expands upon this idea! It's time we started moving past Kuju's scheme.

I like this idea, but wouldn't you'd run the risk of having more cars than space available if you changed out a bunch of 50' box cars with 80' autoracks?

That is why you'd have to have some scheme to classify types of cars - tags or a list of suitable cars in each category or something. You wouldn't want the reefers at the lumber yard, the auto-racks and the feed dealer, etc.

Shouldn't take much effort for us developers to enter a flag in the .wag file. Something along the lines of:

ORTSCarClass ( reefer_diesel )

Since we already define length in the .wag, the randomizer could read that and the activity designer can specify a length range for the cars in each consist. The sim could then randomly populate the loose consist with diesel reefers of lengths within that range.

Saying "diesel reefer" is not enough. You should also specify at least the railway era and the country. It's not so easy.

This might be possible with the new AE...
Having an option to auto insert the ORTSContinue line into any type of EventCategory that has a DisplayMessage. User chooses time delay - couldn't be too long, I never use anything over 15 seconds.
AE would insert the line immediately before last bracket.
